What wilted, – Owen shook his head. The main thing is that nothing looks down on your wedding night, and who cares about the flowers. He winked, pleased with his cheeky joke.
But the groom winced, not appreciating the humor. Owen got offended. Stop being nervous, – he clucked.
You’re acting like a girl, honestly. Your bride will come, she didn’t run away. As proof of his words, the officiant appeared.
She drew the guests’ attention to the groom, then announced that it was time to welcome the bride. Beautiful music played, guests began to applaud. Chloe appeared behind everyone in a luxurious wedding dress that fit her figure so well.
On her face was a dense veil that didn’t allow seeing the girl’s face. The groom shifted from foot to foot, feeling his pulse quicken. He watched with all eyes as the bride approached him down the aisle, slowly, smoothly.
In front of her, she carried a bouquet of flowers. The veil made her image mysterious. Some guests were already crying, others were photographing the girl, filming this important moment on video.
Ethan briefly wondered why Chloe was not being escorted to the altar by her father, as in the rehearsals, but he immediately dismissed unnecessary thoughts when the girl reached him. Chloe stood opposite, the music quieted. The officiant was saying something, but Ethan let her words pass by his ears.
— Here you are, — he smiled to the future wife, — I’ve been waiting. I’ve also been waiting for this moment, — the girl confessed. Her voice seemed strange to the man.
Probably the bride was nervous too. Ethan tremblingly took the edges of the veil. He slowly raised it up, revealing the bride’s face.
However, as soon as he looked into the eyes of his future spouse, he froze in place. — Surprise! — Olivia smiled dazzlingly. — The very same Olivia with whom he had had an affair.
Stunned, Ethan even backed away from her, like from a ghost. He sharply paled, then turned just as red. — Well, ready to vow eternal love? Or do you only swear in bed, — the girl winked playfully.
— What the hell, — he hissed, looking fearfully now at Olivia, now at the guests, who were already whispering anxiously. — Aren’t you glad to see me? — Olivia blinked offendedly, then waved. — Oh, wrong bride, I understand, but you turn around.
Ethan turned sharply. Behind him stood Chloe in a magnificent dress. Without wasting words, she gave the cheater a resounding slap.
— Didn’t expect it, darling, — she cooed haughtily. — You know, they say, if you chase two rabbits, you’ll catch neither. — Chloe, I’ll explain, — he exclaimed, grabbing the girl by the hand.
She winced in disgust, yanked her wrist free. — Don’t dare touch me, — she cried out, then addressed the audience and nodded to the screen. — If any of you have questions about what’s happening here, please check out my presentation.
It speaks louder than words. On the screen that had been showing pictures of happy lovers, evidence of Ethan’s infidelity appeared. There were messages, and photographs, featuring not only Olivia and Chloe, but also other girls.
Chloe had worked hard to find more information about what kind of person Ethan Carter really was, and that his last name was quite telling. Ethan, crimson with anger and humiliation, spewing curses, rushed away. Chaos ensued.
Guests loudly discussed what had happened. Some hurried to Chloe to console her. Only the girl didn’t need it.
She approached the champagne tower, took one glass, handed the second to Olivia. — Dear guests, — Chloe called out, raising her glass of sparkling, — I ask you not to disperse. The tables are set, so the party will definitely happen.
Only we’ll celebrate that the wedding with the dishonorable man didn’t happen, and my life won’t be ruined. She sipped her drink, Olivia followed her example. The girls exchanged glances and laughed.
They already knew they would remain good friends. Let people say there’s no friendship between girls, but they believed that wasn’t true. Friendship exists, especially if you’re united by a common enemy.
